IRS Payment
Direct Debit or Electronic Funds Withdrawal(EFW):
The IRS will initiate an electronic funds withdrawal (direct debit) from your bank, using the bank details
that you can provid along with E-Filing of your Form 2290 return. Please make sure that you have enough
funds in the bank to cover the tax dues. To revoke a payment, you must contact the
U.S. Treasury Financial Agent at 1-888-353-4537 no later than 2 business days before
the payment (settlement) date. This option is available only if you E-File your
Form 2290.
EFTPS(Electronic Federal Tax Payment System):
IRS accepts payments via
EFTPS. You need to schedule the EFTPS payment on your own and you are responsible for
timely payment of the taxes. Please visit
eftps.gov or call 1-800-555-4477. For EFTPS payments to be on time, you must initiate the
transaction at least 1 business day before the date the payment is due.
Check or Money Order:
You can also send the tax dues by Check or Money Order. If you use this method, please print
the completed payment voucher 2290-V (page 5 of the completed form 2290).
- Do not send cash. Make your check or money order payable to the United States Treasury.
Write your name, address,
EIN, “Form
2290,” and the date (as entered in Box 3) on your payment.
- Detach the payment voucher 2290-V and send it with your payment. If you have filed electronically,
do not send Form 2290 and Schedule 1 with the payment voucher.
- Do not staple your payment to the voucher or Form 2290.
